NBCU’s The Event Scores U.K. Slot

LONDON: Channel 4 has scooped up the rights to the new NBC conspiracy thriller The Event from NBC Universal International Television Distribution.

The series, starring Jason Ritter, Blair Underwood, Laura Innes and Zeljko Ivanek, is slated to received its British premiere in October, just a few weeks after the U.S. debut on NBC. It follows a man as he investigates the mysterious disappearance of his fiancée, leading him to exposethe biggest cover-up in U.S. history. "The Event was the stand out show at this year’s pilot screenings and so I am delighted to bring it to Channel 4 for its U.K. premiere," said Julian Bellamy, the head of Channel 4. "Ambitious, clever, fast-paced and gripping—the series is the perfect addition to Channel 4’s slate of quality U.S. series. U.K. viewers should prepare themselves for an autumn of thrilling drama.”
