TEL AVIV: The game-show format Still Standing from Armoza Formats has been commissioned in the U.S. for an eight-episode run on NBC in a straight-to-series deal.

Still Standing debuted on Israel’s Channel 10 in December 2010 and improved the channel’s average rating by more than 50 percent in its 9 p.m. slot. Production on a second season of 24 episodes is already under way in Israel, for a summer broadcast.

The show offers contestants a chance to win $1 million by out-guessing ten opponents in ten fact-paced and dramatic trivia battles.

“This game show has proven its popularity overseas with its breakneck pace, physical humor and intense face-offs," said Paul Telegdy, the executive VP of alternative programming at NBC and Universal Media Studios. "U.S. audiences will surely enjoy its swift and wit-filled antics."

Avi Armoza, the CEO of Armoza Formats, added, "We are thrilled to partner with NBC to bring Still Standing to an American audience. The spirit of the format complements NBC’s successful game show legacy, and we have no doubt that Still Standing will have a home on the network for many years."
