Nat Geo Commissions New Specials for Megastructures Strand

WASHINGTON, D.C.: National Geographic Channel has tapped Darlow Smithson Productions to produce three new engineering specials that spotlight Abu Dhabi and Dubai to be featured in its Megastructures strand.

The new episodes will be aired as part of Megastructures internationally in May. In the U.S., the three hour-long specials will be broadcast as part of a limited series called Can It Be Built, also slated for May.

The episodes focus on three buildings: Aldar HQ and the Capital Gate building in Abu Dhabi and the 55 Degrees Time building in Dubai. These episodes will be distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment.

Julian Ware, the head of special projects for Darlow Smithson Productions, said: “Megastructures has captured the imaginations of viewers around the globe, documenting the enormous feats of engineering achieved in the creation of the world’s most breathtaking structures.
