MTV to Premiere New Ashton Kutcher Show

NEW YORK, July 12: MTV in
the U.S. is premiering a new horror-meets-reality television show, created by
Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg of Katalyst Films, on Tuesday, July 17, at 10
p.m.

In Room 401, Kutcher
and Goldberg will blend the hidden-camera/prankster hi-jinks they became known
for on their previous MTV project, Punk’d, with horror-movie special effects. Unsuspecting victims will be the
characters on which up-and-coming horror illusionists will ply their trade of
gore and mishap in miniature horror movies called “scares.” Each 30-minute
episode will contain four “scares,” all unfolding live in front of the victim,
performed without CGI and edit room aftereffects.

Following the Room 401 premiere, the popular MTV show Scarred, which explores the stories behind the Internet’s
most popular—and twisted—viral videos, will begin airing its
extended season in its new Tuesday 10:30 p.m. timeslot. Created by Nicole Perry
and hosted by Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix, Scarred is a veritable anthology of accident
footage—broken bones, open wounds and plenty of blood. On its first night
in this timeslot, it will be followed by a one-hour special installment, titled
Scarred: The Worst of the Worst,
a countdown of the sickest video clips from the first ten episodes, as voted on
by viewers.
