MTV Networks Content Now Available on iTunes in Germany

BERLIN, April
2: MTV
Networks Germany will be making a selection of its hit series, including South
Park
, available for download
through the iTunes Store in Germany.

This
marks the launch of the first download-to-own offer of MTV Networks content in
the country, and is the
first collaboration of MTV Networks and iTunes on the European mainland. The iTunes agreement follows similar deals inked in the U.S.,
the U.K. and Canada.

The animated
series SpongeBob SquarePants, South Park
and Avatar: The Legend of Aang will be offered through the iTunes Store, with 47 episodes of the
three series to be available initially for download. Over the coming weeks,
another 19 seasons with a total of 251 episodes will be made available, as well
as the comedic series Drawn Together, which spoofs reality TV shows.

"This
offer underlines our strategy of commercially exploiting our content to the
full across all platforms used by our target groups,” said Catherine Mühlemann,
the general manager of MTV Networks Germany. “In addition to using our own
channels, we'll be making more and more content available through external
platforms and download stores.”

Gideon
Bierer, the senior VP of digital media at MTV Networks International (MTVNI),
added: “We’re delighted to have extended our partnership with iTunes. Germany
is the first non-English language agreement we have signed. We hope to follow
this with others. We already have programming and content on 40 mobile TV
stations, 300 online properties and more than 150 TV channels globally. iTunes
is a natural progression for us in the global rollout of content on digital
platforms from all our brands, increasing customer choice and boosting
international and digital revenues.”
