SANTA MONICA: MTV has slated a new documentary series, Caged, which looks at a group of teens living in small-town America who use MMA fighting as a way to escape their daily lives, along with a second season of World of Jenks, featuring a revamped and extended format.

Caged centers on a group of young people living in a small town in Louisiana. The group of friends are each finding their way in the world, struggling to make something of their lives. The teens have turned to MMA fighting as an outlet. The series comes from MTV’s News and Docs department.

In the second season of World of Jenks, filmmaker Andrew Jenks puts a new spin on his storytelling, capturing the journeys of three young people and their experiences over a six month period. The expanded hour-long format will provide a more in-depth look at the individuals in the spotlight.

"These shows are all about authentic storytelling, from Caged, which offers viewers a powerful look at the struggle of young people in small town America striving to make something of their lives and break free, to Andrew Jenks, who is the voice of his Millennial generation," said David Janollari, the head of MTV programming. "Andrew will go to any length—even moving in and living among the people he’s documenting—in order to bring viewers the most powerful, honest look at the human condition. Both series underscore our commitment to bringing our audience real, diverse, resonant programming."
