LONDON: Parthenon Entertainment has been commissioned by National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) to produce a further 13 episodes for a second season of Mystery Files.

The second installment, filmed in HD, will air internationally on National Geographic Channel in 2011. The show features the latest advancements in forensics, used to help piece together the real stories behind some of the world’s most iconic and controversial figures.

Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content at NGCI, commented on the commission: “Mystery Files has achieved outstanding results for National Geographic Channel with its in-depth investigation into fact versus fiction behind individuals whose legendary feats—or faults— have captivated and perhaps even fooled, people for generations. NGCI is pleased to partner with Parthenon Entertainment on a second season of the series.”

Danny Tipping, the director of production at Parthenon Entertainment, added: “Mystery Files marked our first step into producing historical drama documentary series for the international market so I’m thrilled with its success. The new series will tackle more of history’s iconic figures, offering an alternative view of what may or may not have happened to determine history as we know it today. It’s great to be working with NGCI on this series and further strengthens our relationship with a truly international broadcaster.”
