LOS ANGELES: The reality series 2NE1TV Live: Worldwide featuring the Korean pop girl group 2NE1 is to premiere on the English-language Asian music network Mnet on Sunday, July 17, at 8 p.m.

The 20-episode half-hour series will air in prime time over a span of ten weeks and will follow the four members of the popular girl group as they record an album together.

2NE1 was put together in 2009 by YG Entertainment and gained popularity in Korea after their song “Lollipop” was used in an LG commercial. Six of the award-winning group’s songs have ranked number one in South Korea.

“The K-pop music genre is a major force on the global music scene, and 2NE1 is one of the biggest groups today, having skyrocketed to the top of the charts in their home country of Korea and around the world,” said Adam Ware, the acting president and CEO of Mnet. “Fans from across the globe are eagerly looking forward to the new album and we are thrilled, as the U.S. leader in K-pop music, to broadcast the world premiere of the 2NE1TV Live: Worldwide television series to American audiences first.”
