PARIS: MIPCOM will shine a spotlight on virtual reality, with a series of VR panel sessions focused on creativity, production and financing.

Supported by Sony, the VR sessions will take place from October 17 to 19 in the Palais. The Creativity Session will focus on how VR promises a new wave of inventiveness for storytellers, and will discuss its practical applications for dramas, documentaries and light entertainment shows. The Production Session will examine the VR content workflow, and show that Virtual Reality has much more to offer than just 360-degree videos. The Financing Session will address the most pressing question of all: where is the money coming from? Who are the commissioners? What are the business models?

Speakers include James Milward, executive producer of Halcyon at The Secret Location; Nathan Brown, the senior VP of development and operations at Discovery Communications; Neil Graham, executive producer at Sky VR Studios/Sky Cinema; Amaury Laburthe and Arnaud Colinart, producers of Notes on Blindness; Hervé Fontaine, the VP of virtual reality B2B and business development at HTC; Kay Meseberg, the head of VR/360 at ARTE G.E.I.E.; and Anthony Geffen, CEO and executive producer at Atlantic Productions.
