MIPCOM Spotlight: ITV-Inter Medya

CANNES: Produced by Ay Yapim and distributed at MIPCOM by ITV-Inter Medya, Endless Love is a Turkish drama that tells the story of young lovers Nihan and Kemal.

The latter comes from a world where high aims don’t exist—the only goal is to make a living and survive. Because of this, the young man “doesn’t believe in miracles, especially those having to do with love,” says Can Okan, the president and CEO of ITV-Inter Medya.

Kemal’s disbelief is soon tested when Nihan, a girl from a glamorous town, pops into his monotonous life. After that encounter, Kemal’s world is turned upside down and he loses control. The pair manages to remain together despite class differences, until they’re faced with a tough decision when Kemal must leave Istanbul to work in a mine.

“Regarding our lineup of Turkish dramas, Endless Love will be our big hit for MIPCOM,” says Okan.

Meanwhile, game shows are at the forefront of ITV-Inter Medya’s format offers for the market. According to Okan, ITV-Inter Medya has a creative team that has been dedicated to working on game-show formats for the last six months.

“This team has developed 15 unique and original projects, and we have chosen the best three out of them to be launched at MIPCOM,” Okan says.

Among these new titles is Celebrities in the Kitchen, in which stars undergo a culinary-arts training and are then put to the test. Answer If You Can sees contestants try to answer questions in the hopes of winning a prize while facing distractions. “We believe that this new format will be the hit of the market,” Okan adds.

There’s also a sports quiz show, The League.

According to Okan, “The production and international marketing of game-show formats will be a new line of business for ITV-Inter Medya.”
