MIP CANCUN Lines Up Panel on Micro-Dramas

MIP CANCUN has lined up a panel discussion on micro-dramas with Inter Medya’s Can Okan, The Mediapro Studio’s JC Acosta and FlareFlow’s Shawn Wu, presented in association with TV Latina.

Micro-dramas are projected to generate $11 billion in global revenues by 2025, per a report from Omdia, and Fabric Data reports that, in Latin America, the format already accounts for 47 percent of drama consumption on smartphones, led by audiences ages 16 to 24.

The MIP CANCUN panel, titled “Micro Drama, Mega Audience” and moderated by TV Latina’s editor, Elizabeth Bowen-Tombari, will see Okan, founder and CEO of Inter Medya; Wu, VP of globalization at COL Group’s FlareFlow; and Acosta, head of The Mediapro Studio US & Canada offer their insights on the sector’s reach, synergies, business models and opportunities.

The session will take place on November 19 at 9:45 a.m. in the Moon Palace’s Cancun Theater.

“The rise of micro-dramas reflects how creativity and technology are redefining audience engagement,” said María Pérez-Bellière, director of MIP CANCUN. “We’re proud to provide the platform where leading players can bring invaluable insights, connect with the global market and help companies define their approach to the sector.”

“As the media industry continues to evolve, we have a fantastic opportunity to take the lead in bringing the conversation to micro-dramas, a format driving both economic performance and audience attention,” Bowen-Tombari said. “It’s an honor to moderate this panel with Shawn, Can and JC Acosta—industry leaders who are shaping this space and will share their insights with our audience.”
