Millionaire Format Re-Launches on Australia’s Nine Network

LONDON, September 5: 2waytraffic International has announced
that its game-show format Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has relaunched on the Nine Network in Australia,
following an 18-month hiatus.

The series will launch with a one-hour special before airing
in a new 7 p.m. slot from Monday to Friday, with Eddie McGuire reprising his role as quizmaster. The game show will
feature refreshed graphics and music, along with a new fourth Lifeline,
“Switch,” which allows contestants to pass on a specific question and receive a
new one. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? has
performed consistently well for the Nine Network and has achieved average
shares of up to 28.4 percent, peaking at 33.6 percent.

Andrew
Backwell, Nine's director of production and development, commented: “Channel
Nine Australia is excited to be bringing back a revised half hour format of Millionaire, hosted by Eddie McGuire. This
initial run of 30 episodes stripped daily for the final 6 weeks of the ratings
year is a programming stunt designed to excite viewers and attract them to a
refreshed 7 p.m. timeslot during the most competitive period of the year.”
