MEG Bolsters Format Catalogue

LONDON: Media Entertainment Group (MEG) has secured two new distribution deals for its recently launched format division.

Heading to the MEG Formats lineup is Catch Me If You Can, from French indie La Creature. The dating reality show, which aired in France in 2009 on Virgin17 as a daily stripped show, follows five women looking for a soulmate. The show incorporates a host of interactive features through mobile and online.

Sarah Coursey, the VP of MEG Formats, commented: “We’re proud to be launching the first truly interactive reality dating show, where viewers are actually invited onto the show to win our girls’ hearts. We’ve taken all of the silly games out of the genre and boiled it down to its essentials—young people meeting each other, taking into account that in these hyper-modern times, as much can happen online as in person.”

Also headed to the catalogue is This Is Your Fridge, an original idea from London-based producer Mendoza Films. The cooking show raids celebrity fridges. The format originally aired in Scandinavia as a half-hour prime-time series on TV2 in Denmark, SVT of Sweden and NRK of Norway. MEG plans to relaunch the format at MIPTV.

Coursey added: “This is your Fridge is a classic format that garnered huge success in Scandinavia, and we feel the time is right to revive a proven hit for international audiences."
