MarVista to Offer Hallmark Channel Movies

LOS ANGELES: MarVista Entertainment has picked up two new TV movies that originally premiered in the U.S. on the Hallmark Channel, National Tree and Fairfield Road.

The new Hallmark original movies include National Tree, about a father and his son who drive cross-country to deliver their winning Christmas tree to be planted across from the White House and lit by the president. It stars Andrew McCarthy (Royal Pains, The Spiderwick Chronicles), Evan Williams (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Kari Matchett (Covert Affairs, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) and Paula Brancati (Being Erica). Also included is Fairfield Road, about a young political genius who falls in love in Cape Cod. It stars Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives, Chase) and Natalie Lisinska (Chloe, The House Next Door).

“Our new movie lineup features talent from internationally recognized, top-rated prime-time television series, and two titles that premiered on the Hallmark Channel—a channel with legacy of producing top-notch, compelling original movies for television,” said Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista Entertainment. “We are confident that this year’s MIPCOM new movie slate will be well received by the international programming community.”

Other titles debuting at MIPCOM include Dangerous Attraction, which is based on a true story about an ex-coworker who obsessively stalks his colleague and the holiday movie, and 3 Holiday Tails, featuring three star-crossed couples and the golden retrievers that bring them together. The thriller Shattered Silence is about a suburban mom who discovers the truth behind her daughter’s suicide. The adventure film Absolute Fear features a young writer who uncovers a top-secret government project while searching for his long lost father.

Also on offer is My Name is Jerry, about a door-to-door salesman and divorced father who befriends a group of punk rockers as he tries to repair his relationship with his daughter. The Soccer Nanny is about a recently widowed woman who hires a Norwegian soccer player to come to the U.S. to help her raise her two sons.
