MarVista Scores Japanese Deal on Teen Drama

LOS ANGELES, October 19:
MarVista Entertainment has granted the Japanese free-TV and home-entertainment
rights for the teen drama Beyond the Break to Japanese distributor Twin Co.

Twin Co. will license the
rights to the 17 one-hour episode series within Japan, following the show’s
initial run on the English-language pan-Asian cable channel Star World, which
launched the series to more than 25 million homes throughout 30 countries this
week.

“We are extremely excited
to build on the momentum we have gathered to date with our licenses to major
broadcasters across Europe, and now introduce Beyond the Break to viewers across Asia,” commented Fernando Szew,
MarVista’s CEO. “We are thrilled that Star World is introducing the series to
this part of the world, and confident that our new agreement with Twin Co. will
be the first of many to individual territories across the region.”

On the heels of the
series’ pan-Asian debut, Beyond the Break will premiere to British audiences on October 21 on Five. Other
European broadcast partners include RAI, La Sexta, M6, TV2 in Norway and
Denmark and Club RTL and SBS in Belgium. It can also be seen on VRAK TV in
French Canada. Beyond the Break
made its U.S. debut on The N, Nickelodeon’s nighttime network for teens and
young adults in June 2006.
