Marvel Sets Up Television Division

NEW YORK: Marvel Entertainment has tapped Jeph Loeb to lead its newly created television division, where his mandate includes translating the comic-book giant’s characters and stories into animated and live-action properties for TV.

As executive VP and head of television, Loeb will work alongside Dan Buckley, the publisher and president of the print, animation and digital divisions at Marvel Worldwide, to develop television brands for Marvel characters. He will also oversee the development and distribution of live-action, animated and direct-to-DVD series.

Loeb was previously a Marvel-exclusive comic book writer and an Emmy-nominated writer for his work on NBC’s Heroes. He reports to Alan Fine, executive VP, office of the president and chairman of Marvel Studios’ creative committee.
