Martin Pompadur to Deliver IBC Keynote

LOS ANGELES: For the 2009 IBC Conference in Amsterdam, Martin Pompadur, the chairman and founding partner of Metan Development Group, will deliver a keynote address titled Predicting Patterns of the Future: The Changing Face of Media and News.

Pompadur co-founded Metan with E! Entertainment creator Larry Namer and Amerilink head Jean Zhang. Metan was launched in early 2009 to develop and distribute entertainment content and media specifically for international markets, specifically China and Russia. He is also a senior advisor to News Corporation and Oliver Wyman. Pompadur is a principal owner of Caribbean International News Corporation, which publishes El Vocero, a Spanish-language daily newspaper in Puerto Rico; the principle owner of Montana Coffee, a company in the wholesale coffee business in Russia; an investor in various private companies, including Talent Partners, a payroll company and Seatwave, a London-based ticket reseller. He also is a board member of Nexstar, a publicly listed U.S. TV station company.

Further industry executives on the roster for IBC include Saul J. Berman, the global strategy and change services leader for IBM Global Business Services; David Hill, the chairman and CEO of Fox Sports Television Group; Dick van Motman, the president and CEO of DDB China Group; Arnaud Simon, the broadcast director of Eurosport; and Rory Sutherland, the vice chairman of Ogilvy Group.

Running from September 10 to 15, IBC brings together professionals involved in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment content. There are already more than 1,000 confirmed exhibitors spread over 12 halls, including new stands from Asia, the U.S. and the Middle East. There are also specialist zones covering digital signage, IPTV and mobile TV and associated free business briefings.

“I was delighted when IBC organizers approached me to give a keynote on a topic that is of such interest and concern to me,” said Pompadur. “The rapidly evolving new media landscape worldwide is a subject that is important to everyone working in the industry today. I look forward to providing my views and to inspire discussion on such a vital topic, as we analyze the future of traditional media together.”

Pompadur’s keynote is on September 14.
