Mark Reynolds to Join BBC Worldwide Indie Unit

LONDON, September 25: Mark Reynolds, currently with Granada
International, has been named the director of factual at BBC Worldwide’s Indie
Unit, and will take up the post later this year.

Reynolds, who will report to Helen Jackson, BBC Worldwide’s
director of independents, will be responsible for the acquisitions strategy in
the factual genre. He will also be responsible for building and managing strong
partnerships with independents and providing development funding, investment
and commercial guidance.

Reynolds, who currently serves as the head of factual,
acquisitions and co-productions for Granada International, has worked with
in-house factual production teams, co-production partners and leading
independent producers from around the world. In his five years at Granada
International, Reynolds created and developed new relationships with independent
producers such as Darlow Smithson, Impossible Pictures, Pioneer Productions, Tigress
Productions, Original Productions, Icon Films, Films of Record, Quickfire Media
and Aqua Vita Films. He also developed co-production relationships with
Discovery Communications, National Geographic Channels, HBO, Five, The History
Channel, Smithsonian Networks, France 5, PBS, NDR and NHK.

Prior to Granada International, Reynolds was the director of
news and current affairs for BBC Worldwide. Previously he was based in the
company’s New York office as the VP of factual co-productions and sales, where
he built successful relationships with independent producers such as Hartswood
Films, Optomen and Prominent, enabling BBC Worldwide to represent their
programming in North America.
