LIVING Re-Commissions Four Weddings

LONDON: LIVING in the U.K. has ordered a second season of Four Weddings, which has been a smash hit for the Virgin Media Television-owned entertainment channel, from ITV Productions.

The week on week ratings for the series peaked at 769,000 individuals for the show’s finale episode, and averaged 567,000 individuals across the whole series. Four Weddings was the most watched digital show of the summer. ITV Productions will now produce a second season, of 13 episodes, for the reality-based format, which sees four brides-to-be put their special day under the microscope in a bid to win a luxury honeymoon.

Virgin Media Television’s head of commissioning, Mark Sammon, said: “Four Weddings always felt like a perfect show for LIVING, and we were thrilled that audiences agreed. The second series will still tap into the bit we all secretly enjoy most about weddings—talking about it on the way home, only this time we’ll be exploring cultural differences and upping the ante on more extreme weddings.”

Claire Horton, the controller of ITV Studios for entertainment, added: “We’re thrilled to be producing a second series of Four Weddings for LIVING. This show has proved so successful because everyone has an opinion on weddings, whether they’re there or watching at home. It’s totally addictive TV. Four Weddings was watched by more than 48 percent of all 16- to 34-year-olds and we’re confident the new series will be even bigger.”
