Lionsgate Showcasing Season Two of Crash

LOS ANGELES: Within Lionsgate International Television’s diverse catalogue for MIPTV is the second season of Crash, which is being offered to the global market for the first time.

The TV series, inspired by the Academy Award-winning film of the same name, features an ensemble cast led by Dennis Hopper. Also on Lionsgate’s slate is the hit comedy Weeds, starring Mary-Louise Parker, along with this year’s Golden Globe winner for best drama, Mad Men.

In the way of reality programming, Lionsgate is offering up Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, in which the heiress searches for her new best pal. Scream Queens features ten unknown actresses who are all competing for a major role in a Lionsgate horror film, while 50 Cent: The Money and the Power centers on wannabe moguls who compete in inventive challenges for the chance to have the rapper financially invest in their professional endeavors.

Additional programs on Lionsgate’s slate include Fear Itself, an anthology series featuring one-hour suspense films; Chandon Pictures, following videographer Tom Chandon as he looks to turn the weddings and kids’ birthday parties he films into the next award-winning documentary; and The Guard, a drama centered on the lives of Coast Guard rescue specialists. Also on offer is The Ultimate Ride, a lifestyle docuseries about athletes who are defining the next generation of sports stars.

Two feature films leading the MIPTV catalogue are The Christmas Cottage, based on the true story of a beloved painter whose work was inspired by the home town values of his childhood, and Beer for My Horses, which tells the story of two best friends who work together as deputies in a small town.

Lionsgate International’s roster also includes Marvel animated programs: Ultimate Avengers, Ultimate Avengers II, The Invincible Iron Man, Doctor Strange, The Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Hulk vs. Thor, Thor Son of Asgard and Planet Hulk. Rounding out the catalogue is Speed Racer: The Next Generation, an animated series that takes place at an elite racing school for the fastest kids on the planet.

Craig Cegielski, the executive VP of programming and sales for Lionsgate International Television, commented: "Since 2005, we have effectively repositioned Lionsgate as a studio that specializes in signature programming for premium networks. In the international marketplace we look to strategically identify appropriate timeslots that will work best for our series. The overall result is that we now pursue partnerships with broadcast entities on a selective basis rather than operate from a pure vendor framework."
