Life with Derek

ORIGIN: Life with Derek is
an original series created by Daphne Ballon. She drew from her experience
growing up as the eldest child in a family of five kids as well as from her
husband’s experience as the fourth child in a family of five siblings.

TV SHOW: Life with Derek is
a half-hour, live-action comedy series about a modern blended family with two
type-A 15-year-olds, Casey (Ashley Leggat) and Derek (Michael Seater). Each episode
is an alpha-teen comic war between two self-obsessed teenagers in a
take-no-prisoners fight for control of their house, their school and their
world.

Season one of Life with Derek consists of 13 episodes, season two is an additional 13
episodes and the third season is 26 episodes, totaling 52 available to
international buyers. Shaftesbury begins production on the next season of
Life with Derek in May 2007.

EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS: Daphne Ballon; Christina Jennings, the chairman and co-CEO
of Shaftesbury Films; and Scott Garvie, the senior VP of business and legal
affairs at Shaftesbury Films.

PRODUCER: Suzanne French, the VP of children's and family at
Shaftesbury Films.

COMMISSIONING BROADCASTER: The Family Channel (Canada) commissioned Life with Derek and the main broadcasters for the series include Disney
Channel (U.S., Italy, Germany, Latin America), Toonami (U.K.), France 2
(France), Nickelodeon (Australia, Southeast Asia, New Zealand) and SVT
(Sweden), to name a few.

TV SALES: Life with Derek has
been sold to broadcasters in more than 14 territories and more than 114
countries worldwide including the U.S., U.K., France, Italy, Germany,
Latin America, Spain, Central and Eastern Europe, Australia, Sweden, U.A.E.,
Israel, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Quebec.

MAJOR TOY LICENSEES: Shaftesbury is currently seeking toy licensees for Life
with Derek
and ideally the licensees will
produce toys that appeal to tween audiences.

OTHER PRODUCTS: Shaftesbury is interested in licensing partners to produce
product in all categories starting with apparel, school supplies, books and
DVDs.

STRATEGY FOR ROLL OUT: Shaftesbury is in the early stages of developing a
full-scale licensing and merchandising program for Life with Derek.

Films. Our early research indicated that it’s about a blended family that
everyone could imagine being happy living in and the audience response
confirmed it. Life with Derek is
hard not to like and the timing of its entry into the television marketplace
was perfect for the Shaftesbury Sales Company.”

The company plans to release
product in territories worldwide in conjunction with international
broadcast schedules.
