Latin American Launch for Playhouse Disney

BUENOS AIRES, April 9:
Disney and ESPN Media Networks will launch Playhouse Disney Channel, a 24/7
network for preschoolers, in Latin America on June 1, included as part of the
basic subscription package offered by Cablevisión, Multicanal and Teledigital.

Playhouse Disney Channel
will have three feeds in Latin America: the North feed (Caribbean countries,
Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico,
Nicaragua, Panama, Dominican Republic and Venezuela), the South feed (Argentina,
Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay and Peru), both in Spanish; and the
Portuguese-language Brazil feed.

The channel is aimed at
children aged 2 to 5 and their parents and caregivers. It encourages
comprehensive preschool child development, with learning-based music, stories,
segments about nature and the English language and the development of motor
skills, among others.

Diego Lerner, the
president of The Walt Disney Company Latin America and general manager of Disney
Media Networks Latin America, commented: “The launch of Playhouse Disney
Channel in the region is extremely important for our company. It represents an
essential component of our strategy: to expand distribution of all our Disney
content to families in the region. With this, we provide a special place on our
screen for children aged 2 to 5. We want them to have their own space to learn,
play and be entertained by their favorite characters, available 24 hours a day.
Playhouse Disney Channel, just like the Playhouse Disney block—which will continue to be broadcast
every morning on Disney Channel—will offer original productions and
outstanding programming, which will no doubt become a favorite with the little
ones of the region.”
