KidsCo Expands Reach in Southeast Asia

LONDON: Taiwan and Vietnam are the latest Asian territories to launch the children’s channel KidsCo, which features shows such as The Wiggles, Franklin and Rolie Polie Olie.

KidsCo has secured agreements with Portico Media to act as its distributor in the Taiwanese market, and Q.net, which will act as KidsCo’s representative in Vietnam. These territories further KidsCo’s reach in Asia, where it is already available in Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, Palau, the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand and Papua New Guinea. The channel offers three programming zones—preschool, kids 6 to 10 and family—which feature animated and live-action content plus movies.

KidsCo’s managing director, Paul Robinson, commented: “KidsCo is committed to rapidly expanding across international television markets and we are excited to add Taiwan and Vietnam to our list of key Asian territories. We are delighted to be working with Portico and Q.net, both leading distribution companies in the region. I have no doubt that with our combined expertise we will build KidsCo into the premier edutainment channel in Taiwan and Vietnam.”

"As a company with both animation production and distribution capabilities, we are delighted to partner with Kidsco," said Jay Lin, managing director of Portico Media. "We are in various stages of negotiations on carriage, and have also received co-production proposals from leading companies in Taiwan and beyond. We see immense opportunities and synergies in this partnership with Kidsco."

Nguyen Hanh, the president of Q.net, added: "Q.net is proud to help bringing more and more good content to the viewers, especially the children of 6 to 10 years old, as there is a need of content for this specific target audiences in Vietnam."
