João Roberto Marinho to Receive International Emmy Directorate Award

João Roberto Marinho, the president of Grupo Globo, will receive the 2025 International Emmy Directorate Award.

Marinho will be presented with the honor at the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York in November as the Brazilian media company marks its centennial while TV Globo celebrates turning 60.

“João Roberto Marinho is a pillar of Globo’s success,” said Bruce L. Paisner, president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “He has dedicated his career to reinforcing the group’s commitment to quality production, social responsibility and above all independent journalism. The Academy looks forward to recognizing his outstanding leadership with our 2025 International Emmy Directorate Award.”

“It is a great honor to receive this recognition from the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, especially in a year that marks our centennial,” Marinho said. “This journey began with my grandfather, Irineu Marinho, in 1925, and was boldly expanded by my father, Roberto Marinho, and my brother Roberto Irineu Marinho, both guided by two great passions: the passion for communication and for Brazil. Over the years, many of our productions have been recognized by the Academy for their quality, reinforcing our shared commitment to excellence. This award celebrates the talent, creativity, and dedication of all those who believe in the power of Brazilian storytelling and in professional journalism as an essential pillar of democracy,” said João Roberto Marinho.

This year’s International Emmy Founders Award is being presented to Dana Walden, co-chairman of Disney Entertainment.
