Jim Henson Company Signs Up New Licensees

LOS ANGELES: The Jim Henson Company has brought on new international licensees for its properties such as Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid and Fraggle Rock.

For Dinosaur Train, new licensing deals were signed across Europe. For France, Alcara is on board for charms, frames and collectibles; ATM is in for bags and accessories; Bagtrotter for back-to-school items; Editions Gladius for games; CCI for footwear; and France Television for storybooks and activity books. Belltex signed up for home goods and accessories for France and French-speaking Benelux, while TV Mania is doing branded apparel for France and French-speaking Europe. For Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, Nelostuote Oy is on board for games. Cappelen Damm is doing audio books and storybooks for Norway. New licensees are also in place across Latin America. In Brazil, Bag Rio Comércio is doing backpacks, lunch boxes, pencil cases and key chains; Editora Fundamento for storybooks; Emporium de Ideias for stickers and albums, activity and coloring books; G Baby for apparel; and Alphafestas for party goods. In Argentina, deals were secured with Daysal for lunch boxes and lunch sets, and Editorial Atlantida for storybooks, coloring, sticker and activity books and magazines, to include Uruguay and Paraguay. In Australia and New Zealand, Crown and Andrews picked up the license for boardgames and jigsaw puzzles.

Sid the Science Kid also has new licensees. A publishing deal is in place with Actes Sud and SDP-Le Livre Club for France, Belgium and Switzerland; and with Editorial Vertice for Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Peru. Party Express is doing party goods for Chile. In Brazil, Editora Fundamento signed up for publishing. In Korea, Cake was brought on for publishing.

New licensees for Fraggle Rock include the FIPO Group for apparel in the Nordic Region; Smart Marketing Promocional in Spain for housewares; Loud Clothing and J fox Limited for apparel in the U.K. and Ireland; and Somerbond Limited for accessories in the U.K. Brand representation deals include Alphanim for France, Segal Licensing for Canada and Carmen Ariza for all of Europe, excluding France, the U.K. and the Nordic region.

Under the HIP banner, Skatelab now has Tennessee on board for back-to-school products in France, and Leisurewear International for apparel in the U.K. In Australia and New Zealand, a range of apparel, swimwear, sleepwear, jewelry, accessories and footwear is being introduced. Licenses for the region have been granted to Caprice Australia for housewares and Hot Springs for apparel. TMI Australia and Vimwood Australia are both handling accessories. Segal Licensing is to serve as the company’s agent for the brand in Canada.

For the fantasy property Labyrinth, Truffle Shuffle signed a deal for apparel for the U.K. and Ireland.
