MADRID: Vodka Capital and Grupo Planeta have inked a publishing deal for the preschool 3D CGI animated series Jelly Jamm.

Beginning in 2012, Grupo Planeta will publish Jelly Jamm books in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Latin America. This agreement follows the previously acquired licenses by Bandai, which is the toy master for Europe, the Middle East and South Africa; Turner Enterprises for L&M across EMEA; and Big Picture for home entertainment distribution in Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Marta Bueno, the director of the children and young adult department at Grupo Planeta, said: “We are very excited to incorporate Jelly Jamm into our catalogue. Jelly Jamm is a series that combines fun and entertainment while communicating important developmental values, and all in an environment where music is a key driver for all the fun. Reading is an alternative pastime that plays an important developmental function with kids this age. And, since sensorial stimulation is equally important in preschool learning, our objective is to develop Jelly Jamm books that not only engage kids in reading, but also stimulates children’s senses and creativity in a natural and spontaneous manner.”

Victor M. López, the founder and CEO of Vodka, added: “A powerful editorial strategy is a fundamental pillar in constructing an internationally relevant kid’s brand. Books create a powerful link with parents and will enable them to use Jelly Jamm as a way to build passion for reading in their children. Planeta is the perfect partner due to the group’s very high quality editing, distribution capacity and its strong presence in all of these countries.”
