LONDON: Pulse Films, producer of the hit show Pineapple Dance Studios, has tapped ITV Studios Global Entertainment to handle the international distribution for Showbusiness, a new scripted reality dance series.

Showbusiness, produced by Pulse Films for Sky One, features many of the characters from Pineapple Dance Studios, including Louie Spence. The new 13-episode series will feature larger dance sequences, a wider range of characters and more ambitious scripted fantasy elements. The deal for Showbusiness follows on the international success of Pineapple Dance Studios, which has now been licensed to broadcasters such as TV3 in Norway and Sweden, TVNZ in New Zealand, CBC Canada, Foxtel in Australia, Singtel in Singapore and SBS in the Netherlands.

Richard Life, the director of acquisitions and co-productions at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, said: “Pineapple Dance Studios was the factual- entertainment show everyone was talking about at MIPTV so we’re delighted to be teaming up with Pulse and Sky again. We expect plenty of buzz for Showbusiness in the run-up to MIPCOM and another hugely successful market for this fabulous show.”

Tobi de Graaff, the director of global television distribution at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, added: “We’re delighted to be working with leading broadcasters in key markets to introduce local audiences to the irresistible appeal of Pineapple Dance Studios. Our broadcast partners have committed prime slots and ambitious marketing plans to make the most of Pineapple’s unique qualities. We’re looking forward to working with them to deliver an international cult following for this incredible show!”

Jonathan Stadlen, the executive producer of Pineapple Dance Studios and creative director of TV at Pulse Films, commented: “Thanks to ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Pineapple Dance Studios has gone on to enjoy international sales success on top of its massive following in the U.K. I’m looking forward to working with Richard Life and his team again to bring a bigger and even more ambitious second series to ITV Studios Global Entertainment buyers.”
