ITV Reps BreakThru’s Project Chopin

LONDON: Project Chopin, produced by BreakThru Films, has been added to the catalogue of ITV Global Entertainment, which picked up the worldwide TV and home-entertainment distribution rights for the title.

Project Chopin, currently in production, is comprised of an 85-minute theatrical feature, set to the music of the famous composer and pianist, as well as a 30-minute live-action/animation docudrama, investigating the history of Chopin. Also, 24 two-minute films involve animated characters and Chopin’s music.

This is the first title born from the July 2008 creative collaboration between ITV Studios and BreakThru Films, the Oscar-winning producers behind Peter & The Wolf. Project Chopin coincides with the 200th birthday of the legendary composer.

Emmanuelle Namiech, the director of acquisitions and co-productions at ITV, said: “Project Chopin will be a truly stunning and fascinating collection of animated film and television content, produced for the entire family. Our distribution team will be bringing this unique multiplatform celebration of Chopin’s legacy to buyers as part of his 200th anniversary in 2010.”

BreakThru’s founder, Hugh Welchman, added: “Our film is about enchantment, and getting lost in music and escapist fantasy. It will be charming and up-lifting, and ground breaking. We will have a mesmerizing flying machine that will soar over the heads of cinema and show audiences, and a panoptic telescope, through which families can, online and on mobiles, go on their on soaring adventures of discovery.”
