ION Television Goes HD

WEST PALM BEACH: ION Television will launch in high definition across 20 U.S. markets on February 16, reaching more than 46 million households.

ION Television HD begins its initial rollout in 20 markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, with further launches planned throughout the year. ION Media Networks’ digital TV brands Qubo and ION Life will also be launched across digital platforms in high definition later in 2009.

"Ahead of the scheduled transition from analog to digital broadcasting, we at ION have made significant investments in upgrading our system as well as content," said  Joseph Koker, the president of the television station group for ION Media Networks. "These investments will bring heightened picture quality and a robust inventory of programming to our viewers. The viewers we serve will now enjoy the full benefits of DTV technology. We’re also excited to further extend this opportunity to our distribution partners and advertisers."
