Invento Showcases Juan Uribe Catalogue

BOGOTÁ, August 29: Invento, the production and distribution company formed as a joint venture between FremantleMedia and Colombia’s Teleset, will be attending MIPCOM with a slate of shows from successful novela writer and producer Juana Uribe.

Originally launched in 2003, Invento is relaunching itself on the global market this October with a new international sales director, Isabel Cristina ‘Tina’ Hernandez, who joined the company after seven years as the programming, acquisitions and marketing manager for drama series at RCTV. She is focused on raising the company international profile, especially in Europe and Asia. “Although Invento’s fourth anniversary is about to come—four years in which it has achieved its mission of generating content—not much has been done for international marketing up to this date, notwithstanding our catalogue’s great potential. Therefore, my main duty [at MIPCOM] is promoting and positioning the company at the international level, namely as a format and soap opera-supplying company. Our main target is the Eastern Europe market, where our soap operas have been greatly successful in the last years.” Hernᮤez also cites the potential of Germany, Belgium and France, as well as Asia.

There will be seven key titles for the company at MIPCOM: La Baby Sister, Juegos Prohibidos, Marido a Sueldo, Al Ritmo de tu Corazó® ¡nd Adictos al Amor. Hernandez says of the slate: “It’s a high quality, proven innovative offer, but foremost it is a proposal bearing a quite particular seal that stands out regarding other drama products. Invento’s soap operas have always included an innovative ingredient, a different and audacious treatment, of course without abandoning the traditional scheme proper of soap operas and keeping the universal character of stories.”

The company has several new properties in development, including Azul Cielo, which has already been sold to Televisa and is expected to be on air by 2009; and Divorciados. Both projects are from Patricia Maldonado, who directs one of the company’s four groups of writers and is based in Miami. Invento is also working with Argentina’s Pol-Ka on Valentino el Argentino for broadcast on RCN in Colombia and Artear of Argentina.
