International Digital Emmy Awards Presented in Cannes

CANNES: The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has presented this year's International Digital Emmy Awards to programs from Germany, the Netherlands and the U.K. at a special ceremony held last night in Cannes.

In the fiction category, the winner was Dina Foxx: Tödlicher Kontakt (Dina Foxx: Deadly Contact) from Germany's ZDF, UFA and Exozet. In the category for children's and young people, Reverse the Odds took home the honor. The British program comes from Maverick Television, Chunk, Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK. From the Netherlands, Last Hijack Interactive received the International Digital Emmy for non-fiction program. The online transmedia experience comes from Submarine Channel, Razor Film, ZDF and IKON.

Brian Robbins, the founder and CEO of AwesomenessTV, was presented with the Pioneer Prize.

"The Academy started presenting these Emmys ten years ago and the reach and relevance of digital entertainment and information has exploded across that decade," said Bruce L. Paisner, the president and CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. "This year's Emmy winners demonstrate yet again the unique power and versatility of storytelling through interactive enhancements."
