BARCELONA: In a move to expand into the live-action arena, Imira Entertainment has inked a deal to co-produce two new series with Italy’s Brave Film.

A new live-action version of Imira’s hit animated series Lola & Virginia, which sold in over 100 territories and 27 languages, is being produced in partnership and joint ownership with RAI Cinema. The 26×26-minute series features two 15-year-old rival girls in high school who are in constant competition over everything. The show has been presold to Nickelodeon in Spain, Portugal and Italy.

Imira and Brave Film are also co-producing the 26×26-minute series eBand, which follows three normal 15-year-olds who are secretly in an extremely successful virtual band.

Sergi Reitg, the CEO of Imira Entertainment, said: “Live action is a really strong area right now and we’re very pleased to be extending our production activity into the genre with these new projects. We have excellent partners in Brave Film from Italy and are confident that European productions can compete with U.S. output. The animated version of Lola & Virginia is an established hit, so we anticipate a lot of interest in the live action series from buyers of the original show.”
