Hong Kong Cable Platform Bags Olympics 2012 Rights

HONG KONG, August 7: The International Olympic Committee
(IOC) has awarded the exclusive Hong Kong broadcast rights for the Olympic
Games in Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012 to cable platform i-CABLE
Communications.

The IOC has also awarded i-CABLE the exclusive Internet and
mobile platform broadcast rights for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Television
rights were secured by terrestrials ATV and TVB via the Asia-Pacific
Broadcasting Union (ABU).

On its decision to award the rights to the cable platform,
the IOC said it had assessed the service’s “capacity to reach the broadest
possible audience on a variety of broadcast platforms and their commitment to
promoting the Olympic Games and the values of the Olympic Movement. i-CABLE
also demonstrated a clear ability to meet the highest standards in internet and
broadcast quality and security.”

IOC President Jacques Rogge commented: "Our aim is to
ensure that as many people as possible are able to enjoy the Olympic Games on
all broadcast platforms and we look forward to working closely with i-CABLE to
make this possible in Hong Kong.”
