NEW YORK: Coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Civil War, HISTORY has lined up a week-long programming event, which kicks off with the two-hour feature Gettysburg.

Executive produced by Tony and Ridley Scott, Gettysburg looks to present the actions of the war in a new light. The feature combines CGI and action footage to showcase little known facts of America’s battle. Sam Rockwell has signed on to narrate.

Following Gettysburg, HISTORY will air special Civil War-themed episodes of Pawn Stars and American Pickers. The network has also slated the premiere of the two-hour special Lee & Grant, produced with the cooperation of Civil War historian Winston Groom, the author of Forrest Gump. The program provides a personal look at these two iconic leaders.

The commemoration of the Civil War has been a four-year initiative from HISTORY. As part of its commitment, HISTORY has teamed up with the Civil War Trust and the National Park Foundation for GIVE 150, an education and fun-raising initiative that seeks to enhance Civil War education nationwide and to protect and preserve battlefields and other key sites. HISTORY will be matching grants up to $150,000. HISTORY is also donating $100,000 to the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Parnership.
