HBO Renews Big Love

LOS ANGELES: HBO has given a fourth-season renewal to Big Love—for a 2010 premiere—just a few weeks after the launch of season three.

Production on the new season begins later this year. The show focuses on Salt Lake City native Bill Henrickson, who balances the needs of his three wives, Barb, Nicki and Margene, their eight kids, three houses and his home-improvement stores. The cast includes Bill Paxton, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny, Ginnifer Goodwin and Harry Dean Stanton. The show is executive produced by Playtone’s Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, series creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, and David Knoller.

The ten-episode third season premiered last month to critical acclaim. The show has been averaging nearly 5 million viewers per episode. "The stellar reviews and solid viewership this season confirm that this is a signature series for HBO," said Michael Lombardo, the president of the programming group and West Coast operations at HBO. "Under the inspired creative supervision of Mark and Will, the series keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait to see what they have planned for season four."
