Granada Inks Korean VOD Deal

CANNES, April 18: Granada International
has inked a deal to supply more than 400 hours of programming to the newly
launched VOD service MegaTV
in Korea.

Concluded
by James Ross, GI’s regional director based in Hong Kong, the deal brings
Granada content to the MegaTV service, which is available to KT broadband
customers via a monthly subscription. KT Corporation
is Korea’s
largest telecom company with more than 6 million Internet service customers.

Titles
in the deal include the dramas Cracker, Prime Suspect and Agatha
Christie’s
Marple; reality and lifestyle programming such as Hell’s Kitchen USA, Nanny 911 and Trinny and
Susannah Undress
; Hollywood TV movies like The Triumph starring Matthew Perry
(Friends) and a slew of classic feature films such as Brief Encounter and The African
Queen
.

Ross
noted: “Yet
again we are finding that our brand new shows and our back catalogue series
have huge appeal for a VOD service operator. We are very much a one-stop shop
for multiple hours of all genres of programming.”
