Google, MTV Networks to Trial Ad-Supported Download Service

NEW YORK/MOUNTAIN VIEW, August 7: Google and MTV Networks
are trialing a new video distribution model, with Google to provide
ad-supported content from MTV Networks via its advertising network to third-party
websites.

The companies expect to be testing the model later this
month. The deal marks the first time that integrated video programming and
advertising will be made available directly to Google's AdSense network, which
delivers targeted text and image ads to its network of websites and blogs. This
also represents the first time clips from MTV Networks' kids and family, music
and entertainment programming will be available to consumers on an ad-supported
basis on sites outside of MTVN's proprietary sites.

"Collaborating with Google gives us a terrific
opportunity to take our content and distribute it even more widely on the web
in a seamless and targeted way," said Tom Freston, the president and CEO
of Viacom. "This deal fits in perfectly with our strategy to deliver the
best content to our audiences—wherever they are. We're very happy to be
working with Google, a true innovator in content distribution."

MTVN programming that initially will be distributed via
Google Video and targeted publishers includes clips from Laguna Beach: The
Real OC
, the MTV Video Music
Awards
and SpongeBob SquarePants.

MTV Networks content will also be served up on a
download-to-own basis on Google Video, for $1.99 per episode. This will include
Chappelle's Show from Comedy Central; Beavis
& Butthead: The Mike Judge Collection, Vol. 1, Laguna Beach
, Gauntlet 2, My Super Sweet Sixteen,
Jackass and Punked from MTV; WonderShowzen from MTV2; Avatar: The Last Airbender, SpongeBob SquarePants, Zoey 101, The Fairly OddParents and Dora The Explorer from Nickelodeon and, from The N, Beyond
the Break
, South of Nowhere and O'Grady.
