Globosat to Launch New Football Channel

RIO DE JANEIRO/MONACO, October 17: At SPORTELMonaco today, Globosat announced the launch of PFC Internacional, a Portuguese-language football channel that will begin its international rollout in the U.S. in January 2007.

Targeting Brazilian soccer fans, the channel will first launch in the U.S. before rolling out to Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. By the end of next year, Globosat expects the channel to have 40,000 subscribers. PFC will feature more than 300 live matches per year along with previously recorded games. From January to March, it will show regional championships from S㯠Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais. From February to June, it will feature the Brazilian Cup. From May to December, PFC will offer matches for the Brazilian Championship, series A and B. It will also showcase sports programs from Globosat: Arena SporTV, Troca de Passes and SporTV News.
