Globo TV Lands Scandinavian Deals

SÃO PAULO, December 5: Globo TV International has scored sales for the telenovela The Clone and series City of Men with Scandinavian broadcasters.

The Clone went to Swedish broadcaster DTU7, known as Channel 7. The Brazilian drama is a love story centered on Lucas (Murilo Benecio) and Jade (Giovanna Antonelli). Their romance starts in the 80s in Morocco, and extends to Rio de Janeiro 20 years later. The plot also deals with the issues of human cloning and drugs. The program has already been sold to 90 countries.

Swedish state-owned broadcaster STV recently acquired the series City of Men. In Finland, the series airs on YLE Teeema, and in Norway, City of Men will air on NRK. City of Men follows the adventures of Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha) and Acerola (Douglas Silva), inseparable friends that live in the ghetto in Rio de Janeiro. Together, they learn how to deal with the problems like drug-trafficking, lack of money and the uneasy relations that the middle class have with the ghetto inhabitants. The four seasons of the series have already sold to 20 countries, including Germany, Australia, Denmark, Ecuador, Scotland, the U.S. and Sweden.
