SÃO PAULO: Globo TV International is making its second outing at DISCOP Africa, with a slate of series, documentaries, TV movies, musicals, mini-series and formats to offer.

Highlighting the slate is Internal Affairs, which has been sold in countries such as the U.S., South Korea, Nicaragua and Panama. The series follows a team of special agents who investigate cases of corruption from within the police force. Also on offer is the TV movies Oh My God! and Oh My God! Again?, set in Salvador, Bahia. The telefilms show the lives of the inhabitants of a colorful slum building who are caught between their lack of money and desire to have fun.

Globo novelas will also be marketed at DISCOP Africa, as they are available for English- and French-speaking regions of Africa through a partnership with Cote West.

Raphael Corrêa Netto, the head of sales at Globo TV International, commented: "Brazilian culture has been strongly influenced by African customs, cuisine, religion, music, festivals and dance. The similarity between the two cultures means that African people identify with the programs produced by TV Globo in Brazil, which have been watched in Africa since the ’80s. It’s worth emphasizing that the level of demand for high-quality and well-produced content is very high, because viewers recognize that it’s a high level production. This differential contributes to the acceptance of our products and growth in the region."
