Global Agency Takes On Turkish Prime-Time Period Drama

ISTANBUL: Joining the Global Agency catalogue in time for MIPTV is the prime-time drama Magnificent Century (Muhtesem Yuzyil), currently airing on Show TV in Turkey.

Produced by TIMS Productions, the 23×90-minute series is about Suleiman the Magnificent, the sultan who ruled the Ottoman Empire from 1520 to 1566 at the height of its glory, and Hurrem Sultan, the Ukrainian slave who became his powerful wife. A second season is already planned. Magnificent Century has also been stirring up controversy in the Turkish market about its portrayal of historical events and depictions of royal lives.
