BEVERLY HILLS: The documentary film Gasland has been sold into a number of new territories by Edward Noeltner’s Beverly Hills-based international sales company Cinema Management Group (CMG).

The film, which will open in the U.K. on January 21, has been sold to Festival Films in Spain, NHK in Japan and Digi Turk in Turkey. The DVD was released this week and will be broadcast on HBO through 2012. Previous sales on the doc include to Mongrel Media in Canada, Dogwoof for the U.K. and Ireland, French Connection Films in France and Palace Entertainment in Australia and New Zealand. Additional deals have been secured in Iceland, the Middle East and Singapore.

Gasland covers how Halliburton developed a way to get gas out the ground, a hydraulic drilling process called fracking. America then finds itself on the precipice of becoming an energy superpower. However, fracking poses a number of human and environmental risks, and the fight against the hydraulic fracturing has moved to Congress.
