FX Takes TV Rights for Twilight Films

LOS ANGELES: FX has acquired the ad-supported TV rights to the four Twilight movies in a package deal with Summit Entertainment.

FX will start airing the first film in the Twilight franchise in late 2011. The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which broke box-office projections in its opening weekend with $142.8 million domestically, will be available in late 2012. Eclipse, which will be released in June, will premiere on FX in early 2013. Production on the fourth installment, Breaking Down, has yet to be greenlit by Summit.

Other titles in the studio’s package deal include The Hurt Locker, Knowing and Push. These titles will debut on FX in mid 2012.

All seven films are set to air on FX after completing their pay-cable window on Showtime, which last year secured a four-year output deal with Summit.
