Funky Formats Rolls Out Telenovela Star

LONDON, August 4:
Moscow-based producer Cinemotion Group has picked up the format rights to
Telenovela Star from Funky Formats
for Russia and 14 other markets in the region, including Ukraine, Estonia,
Lithuania and Latvia.

The format combines a
scripted daily drama with a Big Brother-style reality show. It has secured several European deals, including
ATM Grupa in Poland, Paprika Entertainment in Romania, and RTL Group in a
further six territories, including Croatia. The format, co-developed with
Caracol Television, has now been licensed into 38 markets. It launches in
Colombia next month as a daily half-hour reality show alongside the daily
telenovela Second Sin, penned
by Dago Garcia.

Funky has also closed
deals for another reality/drama hybrid format, The Briefcase, in Australia and New Zealand, where Beyond will
produce. And TvPlus, a Vietnamese producer, has licensed the game show format ATM.
