FRANCE 24, RFI Organize Web Documentary Award

PARIS: The FRANCE 24-RFI Web Documentary Award, presented in association with the 21st international photojournalism festival Visa pour l’Image, will recognize the best journalistic approach using multimedia resources and an original angle on the news.

The winner will receive a check for 8,000 euros, and will be selected on the follow criteria: journalistic approach and subject matter; a multimedia approach with, in particular, combined use of several media; contribution to reflection around a modern, innovative and easy-to-access way of exploring news on the web; and the quality of the production.

The prize will be awarded at a ceremony during the Visa pour l’Image festival.

Stanislas Leridon, the multimedia activities director for Audiovisuel Extérieur de la France, said: “The web documentary is a new way of treating online news, combining sound, images, text and videos that exploits all Internet resources, thus offering web users a wider, truly multimedia understanding of the news. The web documentary also illustrates the perfect complementarity between radio and sound on the one hand and television and images on the other. At FRANCE 24 and RFI, we think it’s important to put the emphasis on new multimedia tools that contribute to enriching the international media panorama.”
