Fox Renews P4A as African Representative

LONDON, November 19:
Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution (Fox) has extended its licensing
agreement with Programs4Africa (P4A), which will serve as its representative in
English-speaking sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa, for an additional
two years.

P4A, a program sales
company created two years ago by London-based Programs4Media (P4M), represents
all Fox feature films, television movies, specials, series and U.S. versions of
reality series in the region. Over the last two years, P4A has secured sales in
Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and the Seychelles,
making Fox programming the most widely distributed across sub-Saharan
Africa.

Michael Schlagman, the
managing director of P4M, commented: “Our faith in the potential of this market
has been more than justified. The demand for quality programming, both feature
films and series had been largely untapped and the ability to offer programming
of the quality of 24, Prison
Break
and Bernie Mac as well as a range of new English-language
telenovelas and Fox’s vast library of feature films has filled the gap. We also
believe that the creation of a dedicated sales resource, superbly led by former
Fox executive Tracy Vaughan, has enabled this task to be conducted with maximum
focus, effort and professionalism.”

Steve Cornish, the senior
VP and managing director for sales in Europe at Twentieth Century Fox
Television Distribution, said: “We are very pleased with the sales performance
in Africa. We always believed that the potential existed but would need a
dedicated operation to tap it fully. We are delighted to be able to extend our
relationship with Programs4Africa and look forward to further growth over the
next few years.”
