FOX Picks Up New Gordon Ramsay Cooking Competition

LOS ANGELES: FOX is set to air MasterChef (working title), a culinary competition from Reveille and Gordon Ramsay’s One Potato Two Potato based on the hit format distributed by Shine International.

MasterChef is the number one cooking format in the U.K. and MasterChef Australia is the highest rated non-sports broadcast ever on Australian TV. The original version was produced by Shine TV in the U.K., and the U.S. version will be produced by Reveille and One Potato Two Potato. The series follows wannabe chefs, who have no experience in the food industry, and tries to transform them into professional cooks. The contestants will compete in a variety of head-to-head challenges to create dishes.

"At the Shine Group we are proud to bring what is now unquestionably the world’s most successful cookery format to the world’s biggest television market," said Elisabeth Murdoch, Shine Group’s chairman and CEO and executive producer. "With dynamic partners in Gordon and FOX, we hope to repeat the unprecedented reception MasterChef has already enjoyed from audiences around the world."

MasterChef has proven to be the American Idol of cooking shows, and has broken ratings records in two of the world’s biggest markets, Australia and the U.K.,” commented Mark Koops and Howard T. Owens, the managing directors of Reveille. “We’re energized to be working with FOX to replicate that success while bringing a fresh, new U.S. spin to this proven format.”

“We’re excited to work with FOX and Reveille to make MasterChef a huge hit,” added Pat Llewellyn, the VP of One Potato Two Potato. “With Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong Live and now MasterChef, One Potato Two Potato is proud to be bringing the biggest food shows on the planet to FOX.”
