LONDON: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) will be on hand at MIPTV with three new BBC dramas in its slate, Laconia, The Crimson Petal and the White and Exile.

The 2×90-minute Laconia tells of one of the most controversial maritime incidents during WWII. The project aired to much success in January on BBC Two, outperforming the prime time average by 64 percent. The Crimson Petal and the White, aired as a 4×1-hour or 2×2-hour program, is based on Michel Faber’s international bestselling novel about a well-read young prostitute in 19th century London who years for a better life. Exile, a 3×1-hour or 2×90-minute drama, comes from Paul Abbott (Shameless, State of Play). It tells the story of a successful London journalist whose life is turned around when his father is stricken with Alzheimer’s.

David Ellender, the global CEO of FME, commented, “Our international drama slate is attracting buyers from around the world already and these latest titles are a great addition. The BBC consistently commissions some of the best dramas in the world and we’re delighted to be the international distribution partner for these titles.”
