CANNES: David Ellender, global CEO of FremantleMedia Enterprises, announced the company’s new first-look deal with Vuguru in Cannes today, emphasizing the company’s commitment to bolstering its business with digital distribution platforms.

The first-look deal covers the international rights, outside North America, to Vuguru’s original commission programming beginning in 2013. "This deal with Vuguru builds on and augments FME’s burgeoning digital strategy," Ellender said. "New media studios such as Vuguru are home to some of the best and most exciting content and ideas anywhere in the industry, and FME is one of the best-positioned and best-networked global distributors to capitalize on the creative and commercial opportunities that that presents.”

Ellender noted at the FremantleMedia breakfast today that Vuguru’s content paired with FME’s distribution prowess "is a wonderful combination and really positive step in our digital strategy."

Larry Tanz, the CEO of Vugur, said the company is committed to scripted programming for digital and international platforms and the FME deal "enables us to take our shows from a U.S. footprint to a global footprint. We expect great things from our partnership."
