CANNES: Penelope K marks BBC Worldwide Channels’ first international commission for CBeebies and the show is set to debut on April 16 in Australia.

After its Australian launch, Penelope K will be broadcast in the U.K. and across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America. In the series, Penelope K runs the Information Station, a place that contains all the answers to any question a child might have. The live-action series stars Amanda Bishop (The Upside Down Show) and was developed by Blink Films. Penelope K was the winning entry from some 100 submissions follows CBeebies’ first local production initiative in Australia last year.

Michael Bourchier, who pitched the show to CBeebies, said, “It’s a privilege, a pleasure and a thrill to be making this show with BBC Worldwide Channels and CBeebies. Penelope K captures the extraordinary ability of humans to be excited by ideas and knowledge and it’s great to know that so many kids around the globe will get to experience her curious world through CBeebies.”
